Women of Worth Transitional and Finishing Center’s logo captures the essence of our vision and mission.  A great metaphor, but it requires the understanding of a diamond.  Diamonds in their natural state are rough, not only unpolished, but also not even appearing to most people to be diamonds at all.  Their beauty is unrevealed to the viewer awaiting a polishing to see what lies beneath.

The expression “You’re a diamond in the rough” means that a person has some hidden, undiscovered talent, characteristic or quality that is not immediately clear to others because of one’s rough, undeveloped interior.  The person has a lot of untapped potential or qualities that needs to be nurtured and refined for these qualities and traits to really reflect the true person.

One of the attributes of a diamond that determines its value is a multifaceted cut. A diamond’s highly valued brilliant cut refers to how well-proportioned the dimensions of a diamond are, and how these surfaces, or facets are positioned to create sparkle, fire, and exceptional brilliance. The diamond’s cut has the greatest influence on a diamond’s beauty and sparkle when shaping a diamond for polishing.  Diamonds are marvelous examples of extreme beauty combined with extreme strength.

Multifaceted means someone or something with many features or perspectives to consider. A person who has many different talents in all kinds of fields and subject areas is an example of someone who would be described as multifaceted.

​

Like diamonds, women can be considered as multifaceted and therefore highly valuable!  It is no coincidence that Proverbs 31 in the Bible describe such a woman of strong character and her worth (price) is far above rubies whose characteristics, attributes, and qualities there seems no end to her God-ordained abilities.  We believe there is a diamond in every woman.
